SKYWARN Activation Script AZ - Sector 1
This is [Name / Callsign] Net Control for the Arizona Skywarn Sector 1 Activation Net, in contact with the Tucson Office of the National Weather Service. This is a directed Net. This Net is activating for [County/Counties being activated].
Trained Skywarn spotters in [County/Counties being activated], are asked to check in, giving your call sign and spotter number. Give your location if not at home.
[Pause to allow for station check-ins. At this time if the Watch or Warning from the National Weather Service is available it should be read so that all spotters are aware of the current weather event that is of specific concern.]
We are looking for reports of severe weather including:
When you observe severe weather that meets the National Weather Service criteria, report the weather completely, to include the time observer, location, and damage. Speak slowly and clearly.
Non-Spotter Stations are requested to stand-by until the Net Control calls for other reports.
Please refrain from calling Skywarn Net Contol if there is no severe weather occurring in your area. Any station experiencing severe weather call Sector 1 Skywarn Net Control at this time.
[Give your call Sign every 15 minutes and announce “This is a SKYWARN Activation and a Directed Net for [Counties being affected]. When new watches/warnings are issued read them over the air and activate any additional counties as necessary.]

- HAIL (DIME SIZE OR LARGER)
- WIND 50 MPH OR GREATER
- FLOODING
- RAIN ACCUMULATION IN EXCESS OF 1 INCH OR MORE PER HOUR
- DAMAGE BY WIND OR LIGHTNING
- DOWNED TREES OR POWER LINES
